Veolia Partners with Taiwan's Ministry of Environment on the "Rebag" Initiative — Mobilizing 10,000 Bags in 15 Days to Champion Corporate Action Against Plastic Waste

袋袋相傳1

Veolia in Taiwan, together with our business units — Onyx Ta-Ho, ApolloTech, Water Technologies, and Cowin — proudly became the first multinational environmental company in Taiwan to respond to the "Rebag" initiative launched by the Resource Circulation Administration, Ministry of Environment.

Fifteen days may not sound like much, but once the initiative was announced, employees across all business units eagerly jumped in — encouraging one another while quietly competing to see who could collect the most bags. Some made a point of bringing bags back from home during the holiday weekend; others, who don't typically lead household shopping, were pleasantly surprised to discover upon rummaging through their closets that the family's collection of designer paper bags was far more impressive than they had imagined. From waste treatment facilities to offices, employees across all locations participated enthusiastically, bringing bags of every kind — shopping bags from department stores, travel souvenirs, restaurant packaging — each one carrying a piece of their daily lives. By the end of it all, nearly 10,000 clean secondhand bags had been gathered in just 15 days, proving that meaningful action on plastic reduction often starts with the simplest choices around us.

These  bags, once treasured in homes, now have a new purpose. In recognition of this remarkable achievement, Minister Chi-Ming Peng (彭啓明) of the Ministry of Environment personally attended the ceremony to present Veolia with a Certificate of Appreciation, commending the company for bringing circular economy values to life in its day-to-day operations, and expressing his appreciation for the longstanding environmental cooperation between Taiwan and France and his hopes for its continued deepening. We believe that resource circulation lives in every choice we make to give idle resources a second life — in the hands of those who need them next, these bags will continue to create new value and become a tangible force driving our transition toward sustainability.
